Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
The safety and security of the WCCS community is critically important. To best protect our students, faculty, staff, administration, and families incase of emergency, we have chosen to partner with local first responders, the public-school system, and the “I Love U Guys” Foundation (http://iloveuguys.org/) in the utilization of their Standard Response Protocol (SRP).
WCCS takes training seriously and has partnered with Vector Solutions to provide customized, online training programs for all employees. Employees are required to have annual training in areas such as Mandatory Reporting, Medication Administration, Bloodborn Pathogen Exposure Prevention, and Sexual Misconduct. In addition, faculty and staff are required to participate annually in Active Shooter Training along with Stop the Bleed Training.
WCCS has a School Security Officer on each campus. We are contracted with Allied Universal, the same organization that provides officers for the Rock Hill School District, to provide these officers for us to further enhance security on campus during school hours on school days.
All campus visitors must be buzzed in by the receptionist at the front entrance at either school location using video doorbell technology. Computer check-in is required and a visitors tag must be worn at all times while on campus. WCCS is a closed campus to students at other schools unless the student is seeking enrollment and has made arrangements through the admissions office; or is an out-of-town friend or immediate family member, having made arrangements with administration at least one day prior to the visit.
WCCS may be closed, delayed in opening, or dismissed early due to inclement weather or other emergency situations. Should parents need to be notified quickly in an emergency situation, WCCS uses the FACTS Parent Alert system to text all custodial guardians using the cell phone numbers provided at the time of enrollment/re-enrollment. To ensure you are able to receive our alerts, please text the keyword “START” to 31706 from your mobile device. Any text alerts from our school will begin with “WCCSAlert.” Emergency announcements for WCCS will also be emailed to the custodial guardians listed on record.
It is our ongoing commitment to further enhance and provide a safe and secure learning environment for all our WCCS students. New for the 2023-2024 school year, we have added a multitude of security upgrades including more security cameras, walkie-talkies, fencing, and video doorbells at the front entrance of each campus. Each year, WCCS works collaboratively within the school and with law enforcement to improve school safety plans, security procedures and emergency guidelines.
