The Burgie Family

Ryan (6th Grade)

“First and foremost, we were looking for a school home for Ryan; one that was founded on biblical truths and principals. It is our deepest desire that Ryan be nurtured, equipped, and challenged to become a young man after God’s own heart. Upon our first meeting and tour of the school, we knew right away that this was the kind of environment that would be the steppingstone to developing Ryan’s Godly character.”

Tell us about your family! What kinds of activities or hobbies do you enjoy together?

The Lord blended our two families 14 years ago. After that, He proceeded to bless us abundantly with an amazing gift, our son Ryan! It has been a joy to raise this young man as a southern boy in the Carolinas. We love the outdoors and one of our favorite activities to do as a family is to go fishing. Whether fishing in the ocean or mountain streams, we truly enjoy spending this time together in God’s creation. It is especially fun when our fishing leads to some catching! 😉 What a special gift it was to each of us when we learned of WCCS’ theme scripture verse for this year, Matthew 4:19: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men”. This was such a confirmation that WCCS is exactly where Ryan is meant to be. What a blessing!

How did you hear about our school?

Ryan has a friend from his previous school, whose mother happened to be his 3rd grade teacher. They have both since moved to this school. When she heard of our desire to find a more fitting environment for Ryan, she highly encouraged us to come check out WCCS. She shared what a wonderful impact this school has had on their lives, and knowing Ryan, thought it might be a great fit for him as well. We will always be very grateful that they pointed us in this direction.

Was there anything in particular that influenced your decision to become a part of the WCCS family?

First and foremost, we were looking for a school home for Ryan; one that was founded on biblical truths and principals. It is our deepest desire that Ryan be nurtured, equipped, and challenged to become a young man after God’s own heart. Upon our first meeting and tour of the school, we knew right away that this was the kind of environment that would be the steppingstone to developing Ryan’s Godly character. We were very excited about the philosophy that the Admissions staff shared at our initial meeting. It was evident that having fun is important to WCCS, because if the kids are having fun at school, then school is FUN! This idea was a stark contrast from what Ryan experienced at his previous school and was exactly what we were looking for! Not only did this school offer everything we prayed for, but the genuine joy that permeated the environment made us realize that we were home!

What are you most excited about in beginning the school year as a part of the WCCS family?

We are very excited to partner with WCCS in continuing to build a strong Godly foundation for Ryan at school and at home. Despite the darkness that continues to creep in all around us, we are so thankful to be part of a school family that encourages hope, stands firm in their convictions, and radiates the light of Jesus.
