The Fosdick Family

Paxton (1st)

We love the the true partnership that we feel at WCCS in not just schooling our son, but helping us in raising our son. WCCS goes beyond a traditional academic education. They truly work on raising their kids as a whole person by focusing on character, spiritual wellbeing, social skills, and knowing God.

How long has your family been a part of our school?

Two years.

Why did you choose WCCS for your child?

WCCS appealed to our family for so many reasons. For their curriculum to include Bible study, and chapel… for their smaller classroom sizes to promote more one on one attention and individual learning styles… and for their partnership in raising disciples of Christ who are able to go out into a broken world, and teach Gods word without fear of repercussion. Instead of “shielding” our children from the world, we saw that they are instead, teaching them how to use the armor of God as protection from the world.

What do you love most about WCCS?

We love the the true partnership that we feel at WCCS in not just schooling our son, but helping us in raising our son. WCCS goes beyond a traditional academic education. They truly work on raising their kids as a whole person by focusing on character, spiritual wellbeing, social skills, and knowing God.

What is one word that describes our school? Tell us why you chose that word.

Partnership. I’ve used this word so many times in my answers because it truly is a partnership with WCCS in raising our son. They don’t just leave our kids at the dismissal bell, or end of the school year, and call it a day. Our teachers want to be involved in other parts of our kids lives as well. They reach out, and keep up with them. They show up to support them, and love them outside of school. It shows our son that we are all people who care for him enough to work together in making sure he’s growing up in the way God sees fit. This partnership is a support system for him, and he can lean on any part of it at any time he needs it.

Describe one of your favorite teachers and the impact that this person has had in your student’s life – or perhaps a specific example of a way this teacher has cared for your student in a special way.

Mrs. Tate has been an incredible support for Paxton as he goes through life’s valleys and peaks. She has prayed for him, and with him, specifically during an extremely hard time in our family’s lives recently. She made sure to reach out to me to let me know that Paxton had confided in her about what was going on, and that she was there for not just him, but for us too. For our son to have a teacher that he trusts enough to go to with problems is such a blessing. For her to have made such an impact in his world that he knows that he can confide in her, and trust her because of how she shows up for him, and how she supports him as well as his family, has given us as his parents, such a sense of relief. For Paxton to feel truly loved, supported, and comfortable outside of home is a true testament to the school, and his teachers. Mrs. Erle and Mrs. Lee in Kindergarten were no different. All of his teachers have truly loved my son every day that he was with them, and I know he’s felt that love.

How is WCCS preparing your child for God’s call on their lives, including hopes, plans, and dreams for college, career, and/or community?

By helping our kids learn how pray, and how to discern Gods voice. To be able to really listen to what God is saying, and where He is leading them. By working on our children as a whole person, including their morals, so that when they go out into the world on their own, they know not just “right vs. wrong” but also “good vs. evil”. Their focus on teaching academics as well as God’s word is helping to build true character in future, well rounded leaders… not just smart kids to be pushed through to the next grade. Leaders who use the Fruit of the Spirit as their foundation for life’s choices, and know that those morals and values are evidence that God is at work in our lives. Our teachers instill the goodness of God in our children. A goodness that encourages them to step out of their comfort zone to be anything that God wants them to be because of the potential that they each have to be world changers.

What would you tell another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at WCCS?

The way my son has blossomed from a timid little boy, to a fearless young man who is ready to take on whatever life throws at him because he knows that God, his family, AND his teachers have his back is truly one of the biggest blessings in our lives. I have seen first hand the way his confidence has grown, as well as his academic skills and his knowledge in The Bible, to the point that he is now confidently teaching me. Parents considering WCCS will quickly see how worth it the tuition is in their kids lives, and never regret it. I will absolutely go without for myself before I ever feel to stretched financially to not send my son to WCCS. That’s how important this school is in our family’s world.
