The McGaritysWCCS Family

The McGarity family has been a part of the WCCS family for one year! The have a son, Alister in the 3rd grade, and a daughter, Claire that is in our Early Childhood program! Read on to find out how they have come to love WCCS so quickly!

Why did you choose WCCS for your child?

Our son has always been a well-behaved, kind child. We chose WCCS so that he could get a great academic foundation. We were thrilled when we toured the school and saw how they challenged the students. The way that they incorporate God into their studies is wonderful. It lets the children know that they are never alone and that they can always put their trust in Him. We are glad his sister will get the same opportunity.

What do you love most about WCCS?

We love how our son has not once been nervous to go to school. He’s always excited to get out of the car and tackle the day. They do a lot of work at WCCS, and he comes home like he’s put in a full day’s work. We’re ok with that! He’s learning great study habits that will set him up well for life. Everyone there is so supportive of him: the teachers, children, and staff. Enrolling in the school halfway through the year last year could not have been easy, but the warm, loving welcome that he received from everyone there made him feel right at home. He’s already putting into practice Christian values and putting others before himself. He has faith that God will help him get through the day. We just have to put our trust in Him.

What is one word that describes our school? Tell us why you chose that word.

Joyous- WCCS is full of smiling faces. Everyone there is content and you can tell that they are glad to be there. I know we are!

Describe one of your favorite teachers and the impact that this person has had in your student’s life – or perhaps a specific example of a way this teacher has cared for your student in a special way.

When we had our first parent-teacher conference with Mrs. Winn, we could tell that she was routing for him. Who wouldn’t want that?! She could tell he was losing confidence since he didn’t understand some of things that he was learning. She said that while he doesn’t know some of the material that doesn’t mean he won’t get it. Her words were, “He doesn’t know it YET.” Yet was the key word. She told us to keep on telling him that we are building up to knowing things and that every day we are a little closer to getting it. That has made such a difference in his confidence in himself. This approach changed things for us for the better!

How is WCCS preparing your child for God’s call on their lives, including hopes, plans, and dreams for college, career, and/or community?

Our son still has a lot of life lessons ahead of him but knowing that all he can do is his best and that God will always be there will give him the confidence he needs to succeed in life. Our child just got terrific kid for being “A Model of Kindness”. His teacher said that he’s got a servant’s heart and quoted, Philippians Ch.2, vs.3: “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count other more significant than yourselves.” Our daughter has learned about God in 2K as well. She comes home with the sweetest songs and stories.

What would you tell another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at WCCS?

WCCS focuses on learning and brings God into the picture to help you do this. You get to trust in Him that all will be ok because He is with you. They are providing an invaluable educational foundation for our children. These learning building blocks are key at their ages. We can’t get these foundation years back, so I am glad we switched when we did. We’ve been impressed how far they’ve come in one year’s time. Thank you, WCCS!
