The Mitchell Family

“Our children are still young, but I see the excitement and enthusiasm for learning that WCCS is fostering in them. They are encouraged to see learning as a fun opportunity to engage God’s World and His work in it.”

The MitchellsWCCS Family

The Mitchell family has been with us for 2.5 years now! Sarah Mitchell works in the lower school office, and she and her husband, Chris, have three children at WCCS – Zachary in the 3rd grade, Nathaniel in the 1st, and Abby Grace in K5! Find out what they have to say about the value of a Christian education in the life of their family.

Why did you choose WCCS for your child?

We were looking for a school that would partner with us to train our children in the gospel of Jesus and help develop in them a biblical worldview.

What do you love most about WCCS?

We love the way each teacher invests in our kids individually. We have been overwhelmed by their love and care for our children in academically, emotionally, but most importantly spiritually–shepherding their hearts toward Jesus and encouraging them to embrace a challenge with creative problem-solving.

What is one word that describes our school? Tell us why you chose that word.

Grace-filled–I know that’s technically two words, but that best describes the community we have found at WCCS. We are so grateful for the way grace flows through the way our kids are educated and discipled. Every meeting, every parent-teacher conference, every time we have observed our kids interacting with their teachers and the administration, there is tangible evidence of the grace of Christ!

Describe one of your favorite teachers and the impact that this person has had in your student’s life – or perhaps a specific example of a way this teacher has cared for your student in a special way.

It’s really hard to choose a favorite teacher because we know that each year the Lord has paired each of our children with the exact right teacher for them! We have been so blessed by Mrs. Chapman who welcomed us more than half-way through the year and made Zachary’s transition to WCCS and Rock Hill so smooth. We love Mrs. Erle and the way God uses her to help Abby Grace hide God’s Word in her heart from A-Z! We are so grateful for the way Mrs. Adkins treasures, encourages, and challenges Nathaniel as he seeks to make wise choices in 1st grade. We are delighted in the sweet relationship that Zachary and Mrs. Winn share as she engages both his mind and heart on a daily basis in her classroom.

How is WCCS preparing your child for God’s call on their lives, including hopes, plans, and dreams for college, career, and/or community?

Our children are still young, but I see the excitement and enthusiasm for learning that WCCS is fostering in them. They are encouraged to see learning as a fun opportunity to engage God’s World and His work in it. We love how much creative writing the students are involved in doing. Cultivating a creative mind through writing nurtures their ability to dream about what their futures might look like.

What would you tell another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at WCCS?

WCCS is the whole package–a nurturing, academically stimulating, loving, grace-filled environment staffed by bright people who love Jesus and education!
