The Sheley Family

“My boys are all pretty different from each other and I feel that they have each been cared for, encouraged and challenged uniquely according to their gifts and talents.”

The SheleysWCCS Family

The Sheley family has been a part of WCCS for 9 years! Read below to find out why they chose WCCS to come alongside them as parents in the education of their boys.

Why did you choose WCCS for your child?

I was very impressed with the students I was meeting in the community, and God put it on my heart that that was what we should do.

What do you love most about WCCS?

We have loved the relationships that we have formed over the years with fellow parents and staff.

What is one word that describes our school? Tell us why you chose that word.

Evolving. Since the hiring of Scott Dillon as head of school,  I feel the school has been evolving and moving more and more towards the vision that he has cast. It has been a joy to see the school grow and change as new teachers and students have come to WCCS as well.

Describe one of your favorite teachers and the impact that this person has had in your student’s life – or perhaps a specific example of a way this teacher has cared for your student in a special way.

Pete Kidder. His heart for the students that he teaches is evident at all times. He is first and foremost an excellent teacher and seeks to follow Jesus daily but beyond that, the time that he pours into kids outside the classroom makes a big difference. He has lead many Bible studies, come to events outside of school, and shared many meals with my boys over the last several years.

How is WCCS preparing your child for God’s call on their lives, including hopes, plans, and dreams for college, career, and/or community?

My boys are all pretty different from each other, and I feel that they have each been cared for, encouraged and challenged uniquely according to their gifts and talents. Teachers and administrators have spent time with them individually guiding and counseling them, and I have really appreciated that. They have also had opportunities to try different things and discover new likes and joys, and that has been fun to watch.

What would you tell another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at WCCS?

It is a great place to educate your child! No place is perfect, but WCCS is pointing my children to Christ and coming alongside our efforts as parents and growing them as disciples of Jesus.
