Camp RISE

Rising 1st – 8th Graders

WCCS is pleased to host Camp RISE for rising 1st – 8th graders! With a wide variety of options, parents can register their child into a weekly session focused on a particular sport (like basketball, cheer, flag football, soccer, and ultimate frisbee), STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math), Robotics, Drama, Art, Cheer, and the popular Ninja Warrior!

Again this summer, we will also be offering Volleyball and Strategy Games (exploring the complexities of games of strategy like Chess and Euchre). New this year, we have Disc Golf!

Weekly biblical themes are the foundation of daily breakout times when Counselors lead their Campers through God’s Word. Each day closes with a time of games and group worship. Friday Fun Days close out each week with a day of fun activities.

Camp RISE at WCCS

Schedule, Location, and Cost

Each session of Camp RISE runs Monday through Friday. Morning drop-off is between 7:30 – 8:00 AM.  Dismissal each day occurs at 1:25 PM. Most activities take place at the Upper Campus of Westminster Catawba Christian School, located at 2650 India Hook Road in Rock Hill. This year, we will also use the gym at Westminster Presbyterian Church, located at 1320 India Hook Rd in Rock Hill, for some sports activities. Parents are asked to follow the directional signs at both the Upper Campus and Westminster Presbyterian Church for drop-off and pick-up.

Due to the added cost of materials for projects that students are able to take home, the following camps have a different rate. STEM Camp will be $235 and our Robotics Camp will be $235 per weekly session. All others are $225 per weekly session. Lunch may be provided for campers at an additional cost of $35 per week.

Session Information

We take our responsibility seriously (but with crazy fun!).  Our desire is to see each camper develop their gifts and talents in sports, as well as art and science.  More importantly, we hope to help them love and follow Jesus more deeply.  We enlist coaches skilled in their specialty to train and inspire your kids to strive for the best they can be and to honor God while doing it. Every one of our counselors has a deep commitment to God and a passion to help kids find and follow Christ.

Families are welcome to choose any (or all) sessions during the summer.

Sports and Ninja Camps: Campers will learn the basic movements, skills, and strategies of their chosen sport or activity (like Ninja) in a fun, group format. Disc Golf is one of our new sport offerings for this summer! Through fun drills and games, campers will be taught, challenged, and encouraged to step out and try new things in a friendly and competitive atmosphere. In competition, we can learn to enjoy success in a gracious manner, while also learning that it’s ok to fail. You just try again – and in the process we grow a lot!

Drama Camp: Sessions are a great way for campers to sharpen their creativity and imagination! Dive into the world of theater by exploring the actors’ tools—the body, voice, and imagination—through engaging and fun activities. Campers have the opportunity to explore their dramatic flair through art projects, group games, and outdoor activities.

Cheer Camp: Cheer camp teaches important skills for leading fans and giving support to the home team! Campers will learn cheers, proper hand and body movements, including jumping techniques – although there will be no stunting. There will be a focus on fun along with teaching the importance of team building and leadership. The week concludes with performing cheers at one of the other Camp RISE specialties such as Flag Football, Soccer or Basketball.

STEM Camp: Your child will dive into the mind-stretching, creative world of STEM. The campers get many hands-on opportunities that will challenge their mind and skills.

Robotics Camp: Camp RISE Robotics is a specialty camp that we are adding this year. It contains some of the qualities of STEM, with an added focus on Robotics.  Each camper will build their own robot (which they may keep), and learn about its abilities and functions as they challenge themselves (and their robots) with what it can do. This specialty camp promises to challenge their mind’s creativity and problem solving.

Strategy Games: In a fun and supportive environment, campers will explore the complexities of strategy games like Chess, Dutch Blitz, Euchre while making friends and building relationships.  Through interactive instruction and friendly competitions, campers will learn fundamental game strategies – remembering to “think back” and strategize ahead.

Art Camp: Being creative is a skill needed in virtually every vocation or calling in life. Art is one way to learn creativity and self- expression.  More than simply arts and crafts –  your child will practice skills to help them develop creativity and confidence and hopefully awaken the artist within.

RISE412: This is the Camp RISE Counselor Apprentice program. 412 refers to 1 Timothy 4:12 which says, “Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.”  The program is an opportunity for kids to take their first step towards Camp RISE counselor leadership but still have a great time participating in the specialties they are assigned in for the week. Our hope is to push them out of their comfort zone to grow as disciples and leaders. To this end, RISE412 also offers a special time of discipleship training and discussion on matters that deeply affect the lives of middle schoolers. We desire to help strengthen them in their daily walk, and exhort them to live as disciples whose aim is to bless the world for Jesus Christ.
